Hazel joined the firm in 2012. She has wide-ranging experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications and acting for clients in EPO opposition and appeal proceedings.
Her academic background is in biochemistry and she has gained experience as a research and production scientist in both academic and industrial settings. Having industry experience provides Hazel with a useful insight into the pressures of a commercial department, which is particularly valuable when providing advice in the life science and medical technology sectors.
Hazel’s clients benefit from her in-depth understanding of their businesses and their specific intellectual property issues, which enables her to provide strategic advice in a commercial context.
Hazel has experience in carefully managing international patent portfolios and her clients particularly like her methodical and focused approach.
The European Patent Office has recently confirmed that, from 1 April 2018, it will no longer offer a reduction in the search fee for European regional phase applications searched by non-European patent offices during the PCT international phase.
