A Hertfordshire intellectual property law firm has been recognised for its corporate social responsibility initiatives with a shortlisting for a prestigious business award.

Cleveland Scott York has been named as a finalist in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) category at the St Albans Chamber of Commerce Community Business Awards, which recognise the achievements of businesses based in the city and the surrounding areas.

The rigorous judging process for the award has already seen the firm make a detailed written submission, setting out its full programme of CSR activities over the last year. This included the Easter egg hunt the firm held in St Albans with the support of local businesses in order to raise awareness of local mental health charity, Mind in Mid Herts.

The next stage in the judging process will see a representative of the firm interviewed by the judging panel.

Jonathan Midgley, a Partner at Cleveland Scott York, said: “Making a contribution to the community both locally and further afield is very important to us as a business and so it is wonderful to receive this recognition.

It has been great to increase our engagement with the local community further over the last year and particularly around the theme of mental health, which is important to all of us.

We are looking forward to our interview with the judges and then to finding out whether we will be named as the winner of the award.”

The winners of the St Albans Chamber of Commerce Community Business Awards 2019 will be announced at a ceremony at the Mercure St Albans Noke Hotel on Thursday 10 October 2019.

In addition to its Hertfordshire office, Cleveland Scott York also has offices in the City of London, the Thames Valley and Brussels.
