Our Corporate Social Responsibility starts within and is part of what makes us who we are.

We know the importance of looking after our people and that enables us to provide the excellent service which our clients expect.

We aim to support the following three pillars; the People who make us Cleveland Scott York, the Communities surrounding our offices and the Environment in which we all live and work.

People are what make up Cleveland Scott York and we are proud to be an equal opportunities employer. We offer flexible working to all of our staff and support each individual with their needs and requirements so that they can enjoy and succeed in their careers. We are proud to be IP Inclusive members who work hard to promote diversity and inclusion within the IP sector.

Giving back to the communities that surround our offices is extremely important to us. Each year we support a local charity that is close to our hearts. Last year we supported the mental health charity Mind and for 2020 we will be supporting Kiva – a charity enabling people all over the world start businesses. To mark International Women’s Day, we supported two women in Uganda and Kenya to achieve their business funding goals.

Across our offices we support several groups and awards, some of these are:

  • Partnership with WENTA – offering free surgeries to those seeking Intellectual Property advice.
  • Sponsorship of ‘St Albans Business Women’ – bringing together Business Women in St Albans for friendly, engaging and interesting networking events.
  • Proud sponsors of the University of Reading, School of Law’s Intellectual Property law award.
  • Working closely with the University of Hertfordshire by providing support and advice for their ‘Start-up boot camps’ and FLARE awards.
  • Sponsorship of the of the Best Business Women’s awards. These awards have grown in strength and numbers over the years and we are extremely proud to be a part of this, celebrating women in business across the UK.
  • Members of ‘City of Expertise’, which helps local businesses with advice and organises free networking events throughout the year such as ‘Young Professionals’ and ‘learning workshops’.

We are extremely conscious of being a sustainable workplace and encourage several in-house initiatives which support the health and wellbeing of our team and our environment. We actively recycle plastics, use less paper, and run a cycle to work scheme to name a few. During May we host a ‘walking challenge’ – not only is this challenge a fun way to engage with colleagues, it also encourages us to think about our own wellbeing by taking a walk in the fresh air and being more active, helping us take a break from our busy workloads.
