We have European Patent Attorneys who can file for Unitary Patents and who are also registered as Unified Patent Court (UPC) representatives. We have worked closely with clients involved in patent litigation, both in the UK and Europe, and have the required qualifications and experience to help represent you at the UPC.

Unitary Patents and the UPC began on 1 June 2023.  The UPC is a patent court common to the seventeen participating EU Member States which have signed the Agreement on the UPC. It is available for the settlement of disputes relating to Unitary Patents, some nationally validated European Patents which have not been ‘opted-out’, and Supplementary Protection Certificates (SPCs).

If you would like your European Patents and SPCs to fall outside the jurisdiction of the UPC, these rights must be ‘opted-out’. Since the start of the UPC, we have helped many clients with their opt-outs.

Unitary Patents are granted European Patents with a unitary effect in the seventeen member states of the UPC. They are maintained by the payment of a single annual renewal fee. They provide a single patent right which can be enforced across all member states; however, they may also be revoked centrally at the UPC.

We have offered services for obtaining and maintaining Unitary Patents since the start of the UPC.
