James is a trainee patent attorney in Cleveland Scott York’s electrical and mechanical team. He works closely with Michael Williams, helping to prepare and file patent applications, and working on prosecution before the UK Intellectual Property Office and the European Patent Office.
James has a first class masters degree in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford. His final year project was focused on acoustics. During his time at university, James was part of a small team tasked with designing a solar powered vehicle to enter the World Solar Challenge, a race across Australia. At the end of the project the race was simulated to test the design. He also completed specialised modules including biomechanical devices and mechanical engineering. James has recently completed the Intellectual Property Law postgraduate course at Queen Mary University
