James is a dual qualified UK and European patent attorney in Cleveland Scott York’s electrical and mechanical team. He works closely with Michael Willaims and Tom Faulkner along with other members of the firm. James works in a variety of technical areas including general mechanical devices, automotive systems, electronics and mixed reality gaming systems. James has experience in drafting and prosecuting patents before the UK Intellectual Property Office and the European Patent Office. James also has experience working on opposition proceedings before the EPO and invalidity proceedings before the UK Intellectual Property Enterprise Court.
James’ academic background is in general engineering with a first class Master’s degree in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford. During his studies, James completed a final year project in acoustics as well as taking part in a team project tasked with designing a solar powered vehicle to enter the World Solar Challenge, a race across Australia.
