Suzanne has twenty years of experience in the profession and a strong technical grounding in the fields of mechanical engineering and materials science. Her genuine interest in the technologies on which she works enables her to gain a deep understanding of her clients’ inventions. She always approaches her job with positivity, enthusiasm, and a keen attention to detail. Suzanne joined CSY in 2021 after a period of working as an independent consultant patent attorney.
Suzanne trained at FJ Cleveland LLP London before moving to Scotland and becoming a Senior Associate in a leading firm of UK patent attorneys. Before training as a patent attorney Suzanne graduated from Oxford University with a Masters degree in Engineering.
Suzanne has invaluable experience working for several years as an in-house patent attorney both at a US-based multinational engineering services company and a UK-based oil and gas engineering design company, which means she understands the commercial relevance and critical importance of IP for technology businesses. She has extensive experience in drafting patent applications for the UK, US and internationally, product clearances and portfolio management and strategy. She has been involved in the development of collaborative agreements between companies and IP licensing, as well as conducting IP due diligence during business buy-outs.
She has experience in a wide range of fields such as the energy industry, including: exploration equipment; well completion, production and intervention; downhole tools; pipeline, riser and jumper installation; pipeline protection and isolation systems; and renewables. She has worked on automotive applications, RADAR, bicycle gearing and braking systems and engineering bearings. She also has experience in protecting inventions in the field of plastics, composites, semiconductor device fabrication, engineering alloys and fibre technology. Additionally, Suzanne has worked on biomedical technology and drug delivery devices.
Suzanne is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys and a Member of EPI – the professional body for European Patent Attorneys.
