Tom has particular experience in assisting businesses to obtain patent protection in the UK, Europe and elsewhere for products with a mix of Mechanical, Electrical and Software elements.
He has worked mainly for applicant companies and thus has significant experience in writing patent specifications. He has worked across a range of technical areas over the past 25 years, from mechanical configurations to complex new software. Tom is noted for his sharp understanding, and his clients value the speed with which he can understand their complex new products. Particular areas of expertise include analytical, medical and laboratory equipment, household and garden products, and data telemetry systems.
Tom is used to adapting his approach dependent on client needs but most enjoys providing hands-on, proactive support to clients. In some examples, Tom has been involved in the development process of new products and he has provided strategic input in designing invention review processes so that the most commercially relevant inventions are identified and selected for patent protection.
