Jonathan advises companies on a broad range of subject areas from simple mechanical devices to complex communication network technology.
Jonathan looks after the needs of UK based clients, from a large network solutions provider to small start-up companies. Jonathan is also responsible for assisting multinational corporations with their patent portfolios. His principal specialisations are in the field of telecommunications, signal processing, submarine cable design and general electronics, as well as work on software-implemented inventions in areas such as fintech and AI.
Jonathan has experience representing clients at both the UK Intellectual Property Office, the EU IPO and the European Patent Office, including presenting cases before the Examining, Opposition and Appeal Boards of the EPO.
Jonathan graduated from Cambridge University with a Master’s Degree in Engineering specialising in electronic and electrical engineering and acoustics. He was sponsored through University by Thorn EMI Electronics (now part of the Thales Group) including working for them in their design and production engineering divisions.
Jonathan is a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, EPI and AIPPI, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys. He also works closely with the University of Hertfordshire lecturing there as a Visiting Fellow on Intellectual Property Law, as well as serving on the Industrial Advisory Board.
